Case: Z & J (No 4) [2025] FedCFamC1F 22
Court: Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 1)
Date: 23 January 2025
Summary: This was a complex Family Law property matter involving the adjustment of property pursuant to s79 of the Family Law Act 1975. The final hearing proceeded as if undefended by the husband, who had an extensive history of non-disclosure and breaches of Court orders. The Court found that the husband’s conduct supported a finding of non-disclosed assets. The wife was successful in seeking $5,886,842 in addbacks for property dissipated by the husband. The Court assessed contributions as equal but found the scale of the husband’s non-disclosure and breaches of Court orders justified a substantial adjustment in the wife’s favour. The wife was ordered to receive the entirety of all known assets, with the husband ordered to make a further payment of $5,886,842 plus arrears of $188,998.41 plus interest.
Role: Mr Strik appeared as Counsel for the Second and Third Respondents on 16-18 December 2024.
